Veterans Day

 

 As a child in school, we called Nov. 11 Armistice Day. It commemorated the end of World War 1, signed at the 11^th hour on the 11^th day of the 11^th month in France. The World War, as we called it  back then, was supposed to end all wars. We know how that turned out.

          I have known veterans from five wars; World War 1 and 2, Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan. 

    So, it seems that as Spanish philosopher George Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
